A happy and sunny
spring to everyone! My crocus have been out for two weeks now, and the
daffodils are just about to pop, it’s a beautiful time of year, eh? I’ve
had my road bike out for a short run, and it’s almost time for some real
riding.
A special thanks to
everyone who has been burning their pole lamps at night. That gives our
cluster a friendly, welcoming look. And it’s also important, since they
serve as our street lights. If yours isn’t on a timer or photocell yet,
please consider doing it, so it always lights up – whether you’re home or
not.
We’ll be holding
the Annual Members Meeting on Tuesday, April 10, at
7:30pm
in Meeting Room 1 at the Reston Regional Library. Come by and discuss
cluster business, meet your neighbors, and do a little visiting
– sound like a plan? Of course, monthly business
meetings are usually the second Monday at 7:30
at my house, and the board extends an invitation to everyone to come with
any ideas and concerns you may have. Send an email and verify that we’ve
not moved it, eh?
And how about a
cluster cleanup day the Saturday before the meeting? Our streets are always
so grimy and gritty by spring, from the winter’s sanding, and it sometimes
takes all summer for things to wash away and the streets to look good
again. So let’s get out there on Saturday, April 7, with our push brooms
and dustbins, and give our streets a good sweeping. See you out there! And
anyone who’s really industrious can help clean up near the cluster
entrances.
Just one other
thing, it’s almost time to worry about mosquitoes. These things can breed
in just a tiny bit of water, so it’s important to eliminate all the little
puddles. Suggestions: check your gutters for leaves and debris which can
cause standing water, turn your concrete downspout trays so that the lip is
on the upper side and they drain out completely, and don’t use any trays or
saucers under your outdoor plants this year. That should keep the skeeters
down, thanks.
Remember now, for a
good time -- Tuesday, April 10, at the Library, mark that calendar!
