Solar Symphony

A Continuing Publication in Solaridge Cluster

Autumn Fallback Issue

How about a symphony title for this issue?  I was riding my bicycle up Twin Braches yesterday, looking at the colors of our oaks, sweet and sour gums, and dogwoods, and it was symphonic!  I could hear those colors!

With winter time upon us, it’s especially important to turn on your pole lamps each evening, so we have that welcoming Solaridge glow lining our streets.  I believe that most homes now have either a timer or photocell, so that the light comes on whether we’re home or away.  If you’re interested in a unit and need help or recommendations, give me a shout.  My own pole lamp has been dark for a few months, but it’s repaired and back in service again.

Please make your annual inspection of your solar attic, especially its appearance from the outside.  We want the cluster to have an attractive appearance, to look good to our neighbors in the community.  The attics are a major part of it, as a couple of real estate agents have commented.  And if your attic has plastic miniblinds, you may want to remove them and clean everything thoroughly, seems they shed large amounts of lead dust when exposed to excessive heat and light.  Consumers Report ran an article on this.

Our new asphalt has stabilized after developing just a few small cracks, and we’re happy with the results.  Thanks to the two homeowners who have undertaken to repair vehicles which were continually dripping fluids on the asphalt – much appreciated!  Let’s all watch our vehicles closely and keep our major investment in asphalt sound.  You’ll remember that we decided to have trash collected just once a week to limit heavy traffic on the streets.

Six new trees and shrubs are  now planted, to replace trees which were either dying or inappropriate to their site.  If some of these are near you, please team with your neighbors to give them a good slow soaking every couple of weeks, especially for the first year.  The homeowners opposite the Leyland cypress are also working to keep them watered and beautiful during dry spells.  Outside of the watering, please respect the property boundaries – the board will take care of planting and maintaining all the common property, thanks.

We have so many new neighbors in the cluster!  If you have new Solar neighbors down the street, have you introduced yourself yet?  Let’s give everyone a warm welcome!  The annual party is too far away to wait!

I wish everyone a happy holiday season, and a rainy winter – we need that.  All the best,

Lynn
